What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential oils and floral waters, known as hydrosols, distilled from a wide variety of plants.


How Are Essential Oils Used?

Essential oils and hydrosols can be misted into the air with a spray bottle. The oils can be mixed in water and diffused, massaged into the skin, or added to compresses or baths. A few drops of oil can be applied to a facial tissue and inhaled.

Massage: One of the primary ways of using aromatherapy is through touch, which gives the receiver the double effects of therapeutic scent along with the relaxing and pain relieving benefits of massage. Diluted in quality carrier oils or lotions, essential oils nourish the skin and aid the goals of massage increasing blood and lymph flow, moving irritating waste products from the tissues, and releasing tension from the muscles and other soft tissues. Meanwhile, aromas are released that helps balance ones state of mind through the olfactory systems connection to the brain.
